MEDJUGORJE is the name of a small town located in the mountains of Bosnia Herzegovina. However during the past 35 years, the word "Medjugorje" has become synonymous with the miraculous apparitions which have been taking place there. It all started in June, 1981, when the Virgin Mary began appearing to six young teenagers in this remote mountain village in former Yugoslavia, now Bosnia Herzegovina. The apparitions have continued as of this writing in 2016. Our Lady's basic message to the world is a message of peace, teaching the world to come back to God and to daily prayer. Our Lady gives us five stones by which to live: Prayer, Fasting, Daily Reading of the Bible, Confession and Eucharist.

Rent and download videos of Wayne Weible speaking about Medjugorje.
Wayne Weible has authored ten books on his experiences and investigations of the reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Medjugorje, all which have become international best sellers. His first book--Medjugorje: The Message, has sold more than 500,000 copies in the U.S. and an estimated 500,000 in other languages around the world. This is the top selling book internationally on the Medjugorje apparitions.
Weible is a former newspaper publisher and columnist. He became interested in the alleged apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to six young Croations in the tiny farming village of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Hercegovina, in October 1985. Weible decided to write an article about them for his four weekly newspapers. It was while viewing a video tape of the apparitions as research for the article that Weible, a Protestant at that time, states, “I suddenly felt a strong message within my heart that not only was I to write about these events, but I was to devote my life to the spreading of its basic message of reconciliation with God.
The Miracle At Medjugorje, a collection of a series of newspaper articles, was originally published in Sept. 1986. From an initial printing of 3,000 copies, Miracle At Medjugorje distribution has reached an astounding 100 million-plus copies and is still distributed throughout the world. Weible Columns, Inc. continues to publish The Medjugorje Newsletter monthly. Weible spends most of his professional time writing and lecturing on the phenomenon of Medjugorje, travelling throughout the world and the United States. He has appeared on numerous national, regional and local television and radio programs including the Mother Angelica Television Show, and the Oprah Winfrey Show. Weible has traveled to Medjugorje more than 100 times and continues to lead groups each year. He is personally acquainted with all of the visionaries. In 1991, he converted to the Roman Catholic Church; however, he continues to emphasize that “The message coming from the Virgin Mary in Medjugorje is for all faiths, not just for Catholics--or for that matter just for Christians.” Weible is married and lives with his wife in Hiawassee, Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a degree in Journalism.

* Day 1 - Monday April 13, Depart for the Holy Land
Make your way to your local airport where you will board your overnight flight. Your meals will be served on board.
Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, make your way to the baggage claim area and collect your luggage. Proceed to the Arrival's Hall, where you will be greeted by your tour guide and/or driver. Transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv to check-in. Enjoy dinner at the hotel before retiring for the evening.
Depart Tel Aviv to Caesarea Maritima, one of the three largest ports in the Roman world, next to Alexandria and Piraeus "Athens", which were built by Herod the Great between 21 B.C. and 9 B.C. It was in Caesarea where St. Peter baptized the first gentile convert Cornelius, and where St. Paul gave his defense of the church. From here, we will see the Roman Theater, Herod's Palace, view the Hippodrome, and the harbor from where St. Paul sailed on his journeys. Continue north to Haifa, located on Mt Carmel, where we will visit the Carmelite Shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Mt Carmel, and pray at the cave which Elijah the prophet took refuge. Continue on to Nazareth for lunch, and then visit the Church of the Annunciation. Visit the museum and archaeological garden where we can see the remains of Nazareth at time of Christ, as well as St. Joseph's workshop - which is now known as St. Joseph's Church. Within the Church of the Annunciation, you will make our way down to the Grotto to see the remains of the house of the Blessed Mother, and where the Angel of the Lord announced the good news to Mary. Celebrate Mass in this Church, and then continue on to Cana. It was here that Jesus performed His first miracle, changing water into wine. During your visit at the Wedding Church, married couples will have the chance to take part in the ceremony and renew their wedding vows. From there, we continue on to Tiberias, located on Sea of Galilee, for dinner and overnight.
Today, begin with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a boat ride on the beautiful and scenic Sea of Galilee (Luke 5:1). Upon docking the boat, you will have the opportunity to view the remains of a boat that dates back to the time of Jesus. Following the Sea of Galilee, we continue to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus proclaimed His great Sermon on the Mount (Luke 6:20-49). Near the Mount, is Tabgha, one of Jesus' miracle sites. At Tabgha, Jesus fed the crowd of 5,000 people from five loaves of bread and two fish (Luke 9:10-17). Also, in Tabgha is St. Peter's Primacy where Jesus bestowed church leadership upon Peter (John 21:9). Continue to visit the birthplace of Mary Magdalene in Magdala. During the time of Jesus, this village was a prosperous fishing village that exported fish and garum (a fish sauce reduction; popular in Roman cooking). Your day concludes at Capernaum, the launching place of Jesus' ministry. In Capernaum, see the Synagogue where Jesus taught (Mark 1:21-29) and gave His sermon on the Bread of Life. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.
After breakfast, drive to the site of the Transfiguration, Mount Tabor (Matthew 17:1-50). At this site, you will have some time to reflect on Christ's Humanity and Divinity. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of the Transfiguration and then continue south towards the Jordan Valley, to the oldest inhabited city in the world, Jericho (Joshua 6:12-25). In Jericho, you view the exact location, the Mount of Temptation, where the Devil tempted Jesus during his forty-day fast (Luke 4:1). Following the visit to this mountain, continue to Jesus' baptismal site on the River Jordan (Matthew 3:13-17). After some time at the Jordan River, you will transfer to Jerusalem to check-in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
This morning, enjoy breakfast before we start our day in Jerusalem, which houses the temple to which Jesus was Presented (Luke 2:22). Visit a model of the Second Temple as it was in the time of Jesus. Following this visit, you will take a short drive to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. It is known that there are two churches in Ein Karem, representing the two homes of Zechariah and Elizabeth. The first is in a valley where the birth of St. John the Baptist is commemorated (Luke 1:39-80) in the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. The second is on a hill where Elizabeth spent five months in seclusion (Luke 1:24) at the Church of the Visitation. You will have a chance to visit both of these churches and have the opportunity to pray the Mystery of the Rosary as you walk up the hill to the Church of the Visitation. In the afternoon, transfer to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. In Bethlehem, you will have the opportunity to view the Shepherd's Fields (Luke 2:8). In the caves of these fields, you are still able to see the soot marks of fires that shepherds lit to keep warm. The tour concludes at the Manger Square, which stands in front of the Church of the Nativity. As you enter the Church, you will proceed down to the Grotto of the Nativity which marks the spot of Our Savior's birth (Matthew 2:1-18). Beneath the altar, there is a silver star and a Latin inscription that states: HIC DE VIRGINE MARIA JESUS CHRISTUS NATUS (Here Jesus Christ was born to the Virgin Mary). Following Mass in this Sacred space, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will travel down the Jordan Valley to Qumran. Qumran is made up of 2,000 year old ruins from the days of the Second Temple and also the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were written and discovered (Ezekial 47:8-10). These writings have helped further the understanding of Jewish background in Christianity. Time and weather permitting, you will have the opportunity to take a float in the Dead Sea, the lowest and saltiest spot on Earth. Continue as you travel through the Judean wilderness, the site where Jesus spent His 40 days of fasting. The day of touring culminates with a transfer to Bethany. Bethany is the site where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead which foreshadows His own Resurrection (John 11:38-44). Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.
After breakfast, you will make your way to the Mount of Olives, where you will be able to take in the beautiful, panoramic view of Jerusalem. Historically, the Mount of Olives was a mandatory transit point for Jesus during many iconic moments. Visit the Pater Noster Shrine where Jesus taught His disciples the Lord's Prayer (Pater Noster) (Luke 11:1-4). You will have the opportunity to stop at Dominus Flevit which is a Church that commemorates where Jesus wept for Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). Continue on to Gethsemane, a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives. Jesus brought His disciples here to pray the night before He was crucified (Luke 22:29-53). The Garden still contains trees with roots that date back to the time of Jesus. Your next stop, the Church of All Nations, is built over the "Rock of Agony". This is where Jesus prayed alone on the night of His arrest. Throughout this time, you are invited to remain in prayer and to reflect on Christ's agony that He experienced. You will have the opportunity to visit the Western Wall, which is the last remnant of the Jewish Temple after it was destroyed in 70 A.D. Continue with a visit to the house of the High Priest Caiaphas (Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu). This Church commemorates where Jesus was examined and eventually imprisoned before the Council in Jerusalem. It also commemorates Peter's Denial of Christ (John 18:15-18), Peters' repentance, and Jesus' forgiveness of Peter. You will also visit the Upper Room on Mt. Zion. The Upper Room is where Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17-30) and where Jesus appeared to His disciples after His Death and Resurrection (Mark 16:14). In addition, visit the nearby Benedictine Church of the Dormition. Tradition tells us that this Church is where Mary, the Mother of Jesus, "fell asleep." At the end of this prayerful day, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight.
This morning you will have a very early wake-up to begin the Via Dolorosa (The Way of the Cross) at the Antonia Fortress. This is the spot where Jesus was condemned to death by Pontius Pilate (John 18:28-19:16). Following His condemnation, He was taken (on the Road to Calvary) to His place of Crucifixion. Reflect upon the Stations of the Cross as you travel through the markets of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (Luke 23:26-33). This sacred destination is the site of Calvary (Jesus' crucifixion place) and His tomb (Luke 23: 50-55). Celebrate Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Following Mass, we will return to the hotel to enjoy breakfast. You will continue your day with a visit to the Church of St. Anne's, the home of Jesus' maternal grandparents (Anne and Joachim); and the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed the crippled man (John 5:1-9). This afternoon, enjoy a revisit to the Old City. Following this visit return to the hotel to enjoy dinner and an overnight at your hotel.
After an early breakfast and heartfelt farewells, transfer to the Tel Aviv airport for return flights home.

Days 3 - 8: Experiencing Medjugorje
The most beautiful features of Medjugorje are its simplicity and peace. While in Medjugorje, you will have the opportunity to deepen your faith and share in the spiritual journey of pilgrims from all over the world. A local guide will accompany your group throughout your stay in the village.
Some activities that will accompany you in your spiritual journey:
Attend Daily Mass: Each morning at 10:00 AM, your group will assemble at St. James Church for Holy Mass (English-Speaking). At the end of each Mass, regardless of language, there is a blessing of religious articles for pilgrims.
Climb Apparition Hill:This mountainous hill is where the visionaries first encountered Our Lady. At the base of this hill is a Blue Cross where Our Lady appeared to the children while they hid from the communist police in the early days of the apparitions. Mirjana also had public apparitions at this holy site on the second of every month. While climbing to the top of Apparition Hill, pilgrims are invited to recite the Rosary, pausing five times to pray each decade of the Rosary in front of huge bronze reliefs depicting each mystery. At the top of the hill, there is a statue of Our Lady in the exact location of her first apparition. Enjoy private time for prayer in this holy place.
Climb Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain):In 1933, the Medjugorje villagers built a 30-foot high cross atop the mountain to commemorate Jesus' passion and death on the cross. You will have the opportunity to climb this mountain and venerate that very cross. While climbing, pilgrims pray the Stations of the Cross to meditate on Jesus' suffering, pausing fourteen times for each station at the huge bronze reliefs. Take private time at the top of the mountain in front of the cross, for prayer in this holy place.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament:Our Lady has always called us to be close to her Son. In response to her call, pilgrims will have the opportunity to adore the Blessed Sacrament at the altar outside of St. James Church. Adoration is on Tuesdays and Saturdays; Veneration of the Cross is on Fridays inside the church. Additionally, there is an Adoration Chapel on the grounds of St. James Church, where Adoration is held in the afternoon hours. Eucharistic Adoration is one of the most mem-orable experiences in Medjugorje. God's grace is so tangible, one feels as though they can reach out and touch the Holy Spirit. During the service, the outside altar is surrounded by sev-eral thousand pilgrims and locals, as everyone rests in deep prayer.
Meetings with the Visionaries:Pending their availability, your guide will arrange meetings with the visionaries at their homes.
Visit the Community of Cenacolo:Pilgrims will have the oppor-tunity to visit the Community of Cenacolo, founded by Sr. Elvira Petrozzi, for young men and women who have taken the wrong path and are on the road to recovery. You will be able to listen to their inspirational testimonies about their journeys back to Jesus Christ.
Prayer at the Statue of the Risen Christ:The bronze statue of the Risen Christ, located on the grounds of St. James Church. This statue miraculously seeps droplets of water out of Christ's right knee. Many pilgrims sit and pray on the benches surround-ing this statue.
Visit to Tihaljina:Just 20 miles from Medjugorje, you will visit the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, which contains the Our Lady of Grace statue so many pilgrims associate with Me-djugorje. Here you will have a private mass for your group and time for prayer.
Visit to Siroki Brijeg:Only 18 miles from Medjugorje, you will go to Siroki Brijeg after visiting Tihajlina. Here you will visit the Fran-ciscan friary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is where on the February 7th, 1945, thirty Franciscan friars were executed for refusing to renounce their faith. Fr Jozo Zovko, the parish priest who was in Medjugorje when the apparitions be-gan, was stationed here as guardian for many years and received thousands of pilgrims at this church.
Day 9: Medjugorje - USA
After an early breakfast and heartfelt farewells, you will leave by motor coach for Dubrovnik, Split or Sarajevo Airport for your return flight(s) home.

REFLECTION ON OUR 2022 PILGRIMAGE
WHAT A BLESSED WEEK IN MEDJUGORJE!
Our pilgrimage to Medjugorje was, without a doubt, one of the most grace-filled weeks we have had on pilgrimage. It all began in Atlanta Airport! Fr. Dan Reehil, pastor of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, Columbia, Tennessee, who had his own conversion in Medjugorje, was joining the pilgrimage as spiritual director. He, Julie Link - one of our pilgrims and I traveled together, one day earlier than the group, transiting through Atlanta and Amsterdam and onto Split.
Fr. Dan mentioned that since we were traveling on a Saturday night, we would have to have Holy Mass en-route to Medjugorje. Well from Fr. Dan’s lips to my ears… I immediately telephoned Atlanta Airport and arranged for Fr. Dan to celebrate Mass in the interfaith chapel in Atlanta Airport, International Terminal F.
We arrived at the chapel at 8:00pm on a Saturday night and met with Fr. Kevin Peek, Catholic pastor of the chapel. Fr. Kevin described to us how he had built a tabernacle for the chapel and was preparing for its arrival. It would be placed behind a large glass window in the side room of the chapel, with a kneeler in front of the glass. We were thrilled to hear that Jesus would be present in the BlessMd Sacrament 24-hours a day, right there in the airport. After our chat with Fr. Kevin, we had a beautiful Mass with a few additional passengers joining us, and then it was on to Medjugorje.
Our first morning with the pilgrims started on November 1st with an orientation meeting on the grounds of St. James Church. It was All Saints Day, which is a public holiday both in Croatia and in Bosnia Herzegovina, where Croats are the majority. The following day, All Soul’s Day, is traditionally celebrated by visiting the graveyards of loved ones, laying flowers and lighting candles. Holy Mass is celebrated in every catholic graveyard either on All Saint’s Day or All Soul’s Day. It was a treat to witness such love and respect for the dead.
The next morning, we climbed Apparition Hill as a group, praying the rosary together at each station. In the evening, we went to St. James Church in the center of town for Eucharistic Adoration. As we walked towards the church we could see people from all directions heading towards the church. By the time we arrived behind St. James there were thousands of people sitting in silence waiting for the service to begin. Once it started, you could almost touch the grace that filled the air. The Holy Spirit was so powerful, the presence of God so apparent; it was like a cloud hovering over the altar and the huge congregation. This is always one of the highlights of the pilgrimage. All the pilgrims had a similar experience and when we returned to our hotel, spirits were high. I went to bed, thinking, “this pilgrimage can’t get any better!” but the graces kept coming...
We climbed Cross Mountain in the morning. It was a deeply spiritual time for each person to carry their own cross up the mountain along with Jesus, and then leave it behind at the top.
Our group had several special blessings during the week. Not only did Fr. Dan have the privilege of celebrating Holy Mass twice at St. James Church during our week, with our group doing the readings but we also had two remarkable singers in our group. Camille and Gretchen from the Annie Moses Band, Columbia, Tennessee led the music twice at St. James Church and for all our private masses. Both girls are incredible singers and I have to say, I felt very lucky to have them in our choir back here in Tennessee as well! God is good.
Our week was also filled with a visit to Community Cenacolo, the drug rehab community and a visit to Tihaljina to see the statue of Our Lady of Grace. We had daily mass, two additional evenings of Eucharistic Adoration and an evening of Veneration of the Cross. On this particular pilgrimage we fitted in a visit to Mostar, celebrating Holy Mass in the main sanctuary of the Church of St. Peter and Paul. This is perhaps the most amazing church I had been inside. The church has a huge dome-like ceiling… in the picture; you can see the size of Fr. Dan behind the altar. He is just a speck in comparison to the height of the church. After Mass, we had a walking tour of Mostar old town and the bridge.
Slavenka, our guide, worked diligently all-day, everyday and long into the evenings to make this pilgrimage an incredible experience for each pilgrim. I cannot imagine a pilgrimage without her, thank you, Slavenka.
No pilgrimage to Medjugorje would be complete without mentioning Viktors restaurant! With its new location overlooking St. James Church, it is a great place to take a break and some nourishment between activities. Great sharing, bonding, love and laughter took place at Viktors during this pilgrimage.
Lastly I have to mention our pilgrims. They were wonderful! Each pilgrim had a story of what had brought him or her on this journey to this miraculous village on the other side of the world. Each pilgrim added something special to the group. Thank you for being such amazing grace-filled people.
God bless you all and hope to see you on next year’s pilgrimage!
Judith Weible
Pilgrim Reflections:
I learned recently that the Hebrew word for “true prophesy” is “naba” which means “to bubble up.” Immediately I was reminded of Medjugorje, of the continuous “bubbling up” I felt while I was there, and even now when I remember it. Peace and happiness overflowing in a desire to sing and run and laugh. I felt that the sky and the earth, the rocks and the trees were shimmering with joy too.
The village itself is charmingly simple, there is no pomp or grandeur to overwhelm the imagination. It is the internal peace that overwhelms you. The Queen of Peace looks upon you from the heavens, the bells ring as she touches earth to speak to us every day. You feel that you are a feather on the breath of God, imbued with the Holy Spirit and seeped in the Divine Will, whether you are in a “chance” conversation or a good Confession, walking through the woods or sitting before Jesus in the Tabernacle. The prayers that I brought there were answered, the crosses I carried lightened. God met me.
I am reminded of one of my very favorite psalms: “Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky.” - Psalm 85:10-12 Medjugorje seems to be, to me, our Holy and Loving Mother’s foreshadowing of Heaven.
-- Camille
Hello! I wanted to take a moment to thank you both for adding me so late for the trip to Medjugorje. I feel very blessed to have gotten to have the experience with the tour group and obtain the many graces bestowed on our group! I’m learning that by dropping things and trusting truly opens opportunities that otherwise would not have occurred.
Experiencing Medjugorje is spiritual, it has renewed and deepened my faith. To experience an entire village and pilgrims on a faith journey is incredible. My heart has been opened and I could feel old wounds healed. I’m emotional when I think about it. When we rushed to witness the apparition, even though we missed it, as we approached I felt chills and sensed Her presence. After reflecting, I realize how healing wounds of our past opens our hearts to allow God to work in our lives.
When I returned home and went to Mass I almost ran to receive communion it was such a joyful experience. Then I realized what we were told it would be difficult returning. I felt that very strongly. I combated that feeling by listening to Fr Dan on the radio, and by praying the prayers as requested, fasting and reflecting. Doing this brought me out of that negative vibe and I started to feel the peace we felt in Medjugorje.
I just read the article from “Agnostic to Believer” which touched my heart - that’s what Medjugorje is all about. In Our Lady’s message, she says, “do not lose hope in a change of the human heart”. I will keep this message close to me as I try to speak to my family.
I am spreading the word and hope to return next year God willing. God Bless you! Thank you!
Take care, Sharon
